Awesome New Link Reporting Tool From Google

Tuesday, 06 February 2007

Yesss....Thankyou....Google have released an awesome new link reporting tool, for ages webmasters and fellow link specialists have requested more data than we get back when using the Google link: command, and finally we can do it for sites we can authenticate against.

Although Google have admitted when using this command it only provides a small sample of the total amount of back links a website has, with this new tool release it promises to provide more information on the actual total amount of Google indexed links that a site has. From a linking perspective this is great news as it will definitely help find those links that Google finds relevant and important enough to be indexed.

To use this new tool you have to be a verified Google Webmaster Central user. That's explained more here.

As a regular user of Google Webmaster Central for its diagnostic and statistical information, I think this addition will be a valuable resource. Firstly to monitor what links Google has indexed and deems to be relevant, but also from a link build perspective the type and category of links that Google index's and values for specific sectors.
