The 4 fundamentals of SEO remain as relevant as ever
Monday, 01 December 2008
The new Google search changes and features have certainly created fireworks in SEO offices throughout the world. However SEO remains at its core remarkably similar to what it was in 2002.
The 4 fundamentals of SEO still remain as relevant as ever:
- Make web-pages accessible
- Target with keywords that searchers employ
- Build content that users will find useful and of value
- Earn editorial links from good sources
Google's quest to improve the real function of a search-engine, namely to "provide the best relevant results to an expressed need" make this four step process as logical and important as ever.
Learning, evolving and investigating every tactic that might give your website an edge is important but always have this four step process in the forefront of your mind and don't go overboard
chasing fads in SEO.
Following Google recommendations and guidelines as ever is highly recommended!
It will be interesting to see what 2009 brings, what cool stuff will emerge and what SEO implications there will be for all of us.

Thanks for sharing this great post! very helpful! :D

SEO or search engine optimization is an ultimate technique in web marketing or internet marketing. Your ideas are pretty relevant even on local SEO or outsource seo. SEO outsourcing is another form ofweb advertisment or web promotion in the sense that it is in the clients option whether he or she wanted to optimize his or her site globally or locally.

Yeah, you are right man, but according to me, the most important thing is " To understand the behaviour of Search Engines". Without that you can't optimize any site at its best level.

I don't think those 4 are going to help anymore. People are coming up with ways to get to the top everyday. In fact now you can just use digg and type in a keyword you want to rank for and then add your link. You will get into the top 6 in the first day. Don't know how Google will react to that though.

For a search engine to recognize the value and relevance of a page, it must receive help from the creator of that page. Properly optimizing your pages to make them “search engine friendly” can greatly increase your search engine rankings, traffic levels, and potential earnings from your website.
