Yahoo! sings to a new tune

Wednesday, 09 May 2007

People who struggle to remember the lyrics to their favourite songs may be heartened to know that Yahoo! has done something about it.

Search Engine Land has reported on Carlos Teran at Yahoo! Search's blog, in which the insider revealed the company's latest search feature - the search engine giant has integrated a music lyrics database into its search results, creating a Yahoo! shortcut, showcasing the system's smart answers.

For example, a search for 'bob dylan lyrics' will bring up a Yahoo! shortcut pane with popular songs by the artist. From here, curious minds can peruse the lyrics to their heart's content.

Last year, the same news source reported on Decipho's personal search engine, which similarly uses smart results.

By importing books into the system, for instance, the engine will generate a window of regular results followed by more personalised choices based on the sites a person frequents.
