Friday, 22 February 2008

One small step for man, one giant leap for Googlers.

Google have announced 10 of the competitors for their larger than life competition. The Luner X competition will award the first privately funded team to send a robot to the moon, travel 500 metres and transmit video, images and data back to Earth. Top prize for this amazing feat is $20 million, 2nd prize $5 million. If a rover successfully finds presence of ice or water on the derelict moon they will be awarded $5million dollars too.
With the latest news of 10 teams having satisfied the XPrize Foundation Chairman Peter Diamandis, Google has a real competition on its hands!

Over 500 teams from 53 nations have expressed an interest in race to the moon, even a team from the now infamous
Kazakhstan which should be amazing.
